What Do Your Pets Do That You Love? (Gretchen Rossi Wants to Know)
Below we list five that we can think of, but we know the list is endless!
Every pet is adorable at the get-go, but usually, they have one specific trait that makes you completely fall in love with them.
For Gretchen Rossi, it’s the way that her Chihuahua, Remi, keeps on paw on her so that they are always connected. This adorably cute gesture made Gretchen wonder the very thing that inspired this article. Rossi wrote: “My sweet Remi has the cutest trait where he always wants to be touching me, so even when I’m eating dinner he comes under the table and puts his paw on my foot so we are connected. It’s the most precious thing ever and melts my heart every time.”
Then she asked her followers: “What traits do your animals have that you just love?”
This got us thinking — what do animals do to make us fall in love and like the good pet journalists below, we researched five other things that pets do that make us fall in love.
1. They snuggle us when we're sick.
Feeling sick is one of the loneliest things in the world. Except if you have a pet who will lie on the couch with you all day, keeping you warm, and giving you kisses if you just feel like crying from the misery of it all. And don’t forget—pets are also the best binge-watching companions. Who needs anything more from a nurse?
2. They are the best coworkers.
Co-worker relationships are not always easy. Some co-workers talk too much, and others talk about you behind your back. But not your pet. When your pet comes to the office, she remains your best friend and your biggest supporter. She keeps you motivated to work longer and harder by sitting right near your feet, and giving you loving gazes that say, “You are the best at everything, and you are my world.” Not to mention that dogs help you burn off office snacks by taking you for walks!
3. They take us out in nature.
Science has proven that having contact with nature is a vital component to human happiness. Given all of the other things you have to do to keep yourself happy — exercise, eat right, avoid binge drinking, the list goes on — it can be hard to actually fit nature walks into your life. But not if you have a dog. If you have a dog, you’ll want to go for a nature walk just so you can see the look on his face when he is free in the wild.
4. They inspire us to be our best selves.
Do you think your cat cares about that passive aggressive email your friend sent you about your other friend’s upcoming bachelorette party? No, she does not care. She is too busy being fabulous, getting fed, and being born with the perfect smoky eye. If your cat doesn’t care — then why should you?
5. They make us feel ok in our own skin.
There’s nothing like having a pet — and who says that pet needs to be a cat or a dog? — who is just as silly, adventurous and weird as you are. Other humans might accept you for who you are all of the time. But your pet always will.
Now we want to know — what traits does your animal have that makes you just fall in love?
