Sonja Morgan Has Finally Moved! (And She's Downsizing In a Big Way)
The Real Housewife of New York City has left the building ... er, townhouse.
Shocking her castmates, Andy Cohen and anyone who’s ever caught an episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, Sonja Morgan announced on “Reunion Part Three” that she has officially moved out of her famous townhouse. Say what?! “You moving out of the townhouse would be like me moving out of the Berkshires!” proclaimed queen of Christmas Dorinda Medley.
In new footage aired during the reunion, Sonja said, “The moment no one thought would come — including myself — is finally here. I’m leaving the townhouse.”
Alas, it’s true, six weeks ago Sonja got her asking price of $32,000 (that’s right, thousand!) a month to rent her townhouse and flew the coop. While at first she stayed in a hotel, eventually Sonja came across an apartment in Columbus Circle that she’s completely smitten with. “I found a great apartment, it’s so my style, I have a fireplace and a little balcony,” she told Andy “It’s not too high rise, ’cause I don’t like high rises, I’m only on the 12th floor.”
But moving day proved to be emotional for Sonja, which is understandable considering she raised her daughter in the home. “My kid was born here! She grew up here. On one hand I feel like I’m leaving a lot of memories behind in this house, but it’s not forever, it’s just a two-year commitment. And the townhouse isn’t going anywhere.”
That’s right folks, Sonja just might head back to her famous abode if she misses it too much. Until then, she’s content in her current space. “I found an apartment I love, it’s very much me, and it has a rooftop and my dog will love it, my daughter will love it and my gays will love it on Wednesdays."
Wondering what you get for $32,000 a month? Take a look below.
Sonja's 4,650-square-foot limestone townhouse has an elevator, five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms.
We all remember Sonja spending a lot of time in her master suite, which takes over the home’s entire third floor and includes a wood-burning fireplace, a juliette balcony and a dressing room.
The master bath had to undergo some repairs prior to being listed, but looks spa-like now with the gorgeous claw-foot tub.
The scene of many a RHONY party, Sonja’s lush outdoor garden was definitely a selling point.
