Dolores Catania Just Showed Us Her Cozy Sunday Cooking Ritual (And We Want an Invite)
We want to do Sunday supper at The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom's kitchen table!
Fellow foodies will understand us on this one: If there's one thing we derive great pleasure from gazing upon, it's the artful process of meatballs being cooked. Call us strange, but there's something about the cozy sizzle and the promise of Italian-style goodness that just warms our hearts — and if our obsession with the comfort food is a little unusual, at least we know we're not totally alone.
As it turns out, The Real Housewives of New Jersey pal Dolores Catania shares our fondness for the meatball. And on February 25, the expert home cook let us in on how she prepares her own.
In an Instagram video that showcased some live action from her kitchen, Dolores tended to two delicious-looking pots.
One pot held a homemade red sauce topped with Parmesan cheese and basil, while the other pot held mounds of bubbling, mozzarella-stuffed meatballs. In another photo, Dolores showed herself pouring the sauce over the meat, and then, voila! She was ready to serve the cozy meal to her son Frankie, who was home for the weekend. (Oh, how we'd love to be in Frankie's place right about now.)
Dolores also put out a question to her followers: "What do you guys call what I’m making in your home? Is it a Sunday sauce? Or is it gravy?" A friendly debate ensued in the comments, with one fan laying down the regional law: "Italians from the east call it GRAVY everyone else calls [it] sauce."
Whether it's gravy or sauce, we're inspired to whip up our own Sunday feast every weekend from here on out. Or, Dolores, if you're reading: Feel free to invite us to yours!
