Nope, it's not a little black dress! The Real Housewives of New Jersey fashionista has some sage style advice to share.
Dressing like an adult is hard. It means you have to throw away your cat-themed t-shirts. And limit your use of leggings. It also means you have to give up pigtails ... or does it?
In the video above, comedian Chelsea White had the chance to test these theories when she brought her fashion questions to Margaret Josephs. The Real Housewives of New Jersey pal — who presides over her own fashion line — certainly lives the life of a sophisticate. But, don't ever come for her pigtails.
When Chelsea met with Margaret, she got some solid fashion advice about how to dress like a self-respecting grownup, without sacrificing your pizazz. (Or pigtails.)
"The most important thing is to keep your personality, because no one wants to look like a Stepford Wife or a cookie cutter," Margaret said. "So, I rock the pigtails, but I'm still very much an adult ... You have to keep something of a signature."
Margaret also told Chelsea which wardrobe essential every woman should have in her closet. And nope, it's not (yawn) a little black dress. "I always say a black tuxedo," Margaret confided. "The female version of a black tuxedo jacket and pants, because, when you separate it out, it goes with everything." (Genius!) She added: "You have to have a pair of shoes that goes with everything. And the color of the shoe is ..."
