Kyle Richards' 18-year-old daughter Sophia Umansky recently moved to Washington, D.C. to attend college, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom followed her to the capitol to make sure she had the chicest freshman dorm room in existence.

How to Watch

Kyle helped Sophia avoid the common trappings of a first college dorm room with bright accents from Home Goods.

“I didn’t want it to be plastic bins just shoved under the bed. We wanted it to be pretty," Kyle told People.

Sophia's side of her dorm room includes string lights, marble tables and accent pillows, which Kyle thinks gives it a "retro glam" feel.

But after all the furnishings were installed, it was something from back home in Beverly Hills that really ended up making the room complete.

“Now it feels like home because she brought so many pictures with her,” Kyle said.

In helping Sophia make the perfect dorm room, Kyle has had an easier time saying goodbye.

"Honestly this has been a bonding process doing this room together," she explained. "It’s been a great distraction and just made the process a lot more fun, because if I were to just wallow in ‘oh my gosh she’s leaving me’ I would be too sad.”

Here’s proof that a chic desk can also be tidy!

The dorm room’s retro-glam inspiration was realized via rose-hued bedding, some light blue velvet and shiny gold wall art.

A pop of rainbow brightness makes the standard dorm bathroom a way brighter.

Matching brass and glass jewelry organizers and beauty mirrors make for a symmetrical dressing area.
