Here's Jennifer Garner's Recipe for a Healthy Junk Food Swap That Actually Satisfies Crunchy Snack Cravings
This is a great way to get your leafy greens — and to trick your kids into getting theirs.
If being human means feeling the occasional itch for tortilla chips, then Jennifer Garner is just like us. The actress has accepted that the perfect guacamole-scooping vessel is just a basic necessity. But, from time to time, she does swap fried chips for something a little more wholesome. (This is glowing Jen Garner, after all.)
Keeping things real, the Oscar nominee recently shared a dark (blue) secret on Instagram. "Blue corn chips are my nemesis," she shared, while holding an array of kale leaves in front of her face. She went on to explain that kale chips are the healthy substitute she leans on when she feels the need to crunch. And then, being the generous soul that she is, Garner went on to share how she makes the guilt-free chips.
First, she picks kale — "Dinosaur is best, but all kale works" — before cleaning it and drying it. (BTW, "picking" kale out of your grocery store's fresh produce section, and not your garden, works too.) After cutting the ribs out of the leafy greens, the actress coats them in olive oil, salt, and parmesan cheese. Then, she tosses them in an oven heated to 200 degrees, and lets them bake for around 25 minutes.
Not only do the snacks sound delicious and easy to make, but Garner swears your kids will like them, too. And at the end of the day, if there's anyone who can convince us to unhand a nacho, it's Garner. Just look at this sweet, kale-covered face:
But, giving up actual potato chips? Hmm. We're waiting on your low-cal recipe, Garner!
