Whatever Happened to Jaime Laurita?
Caroline Manzo's baby brother launched his food line after marrying his boyfriend in 2012.
Whenever one of our Real Housewives leaves a franchise, she rarely goes alone: The members of her entourage, who viewers have grown to know and love, also exited. Each week, we'll be looking into the lives of one of these familiar faces. Today, it's The Real Housewives of New Jersey guest star Jaime Laurita.
Caroline Manzo was in awe after watching her baby brother, chef and designer Jaime Laurita, marry his partner Rich Lane on Season 4 of RHONJ in 2012. "From the horse-drawn carriage to the ceremony and party afterwards, it was pure perfection," the former Housewife—who just wrapped up Season 1 of Manzo'd With Children—blogged at the time. "It was an incredible event filled with lots of good food, love, and laughter."
Now, two years after Jaime's nuptials aired, Caroline says her brother—who just celebrated 16 years of togetherness with his now-husband (see their celebratory photo below!)—is in a great place and loving life as a married man. "Jaime's doing well. He's in Chicago," Caroline tells The Dish. "He moved out of his house—he's in a townhouse now in the city, and he's doing good."
After tying the knot, Jaime—a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America who co-authored Sarah McLachlan's cookbook Plenty and has worked for musicians including Madonna, Sting, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Prince, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and more—launched his own Italian food and wine line in 2013.
"I want to be the Tiffany of the food business," Jaime, whose products include pastas, olive oil, tomatoes, Moscato, Prosecco and more told the Chicago Sun Times. "Everything should be really good-looking and high quality."
Jaime's brands are available in high-end grocers and specialty stores and he's also now partnered with TJ Maxx and Home Goods to sell his wares. "Having my products in these stores is a dream come true for me," he told My Surburban Life. Next up for Jaime? "I am branching into fragrances, home accessories, decor, plateware and more," he said.
Meanwhile, Caroline gave The Dish an update on three other important figures in her life: her dogs and pig! "My German Shepherds are home, where they live," she says, adding that Moo Shu—the rescue pig her sister Fran memorably brought over during Season 5—is farther away. "Franny's pig was a babysitting job," Caroline explains. "It lives in Virginia now, actually."
