Top Chef's Fatima Ali Shares an Update on Her Cancer Battle After Completing Her Last Round of Chemotherapy
The Season 15 contestant has faced some recent complications from her treatment for Ewing's sarcoma.
Top Chef Season 15 Fan Favorite winner Fatima Ali is staying optimistic amid her continued battle with cancer. After being what she called "MIA for the past few weeks," Fatima updated fans on the latest in her health journey on Instagram Thursday.
Fatima shared the good news that she has completed her last round of chemotherapy to treat her Ewing's sarcoma, a type of bone and soft tissue cancer. She has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy since being diagnosed last fall.
Though Fatima has also recently suffered some complications from the chemotherapy, she is staying positive and continuing to deal with her situation with her signature sense of humor that we've come to know and love her for. "After being hospitalized for acute pain in my lower back that they now think could be chemo related bone necrosis, my docs recommended that I not take my last scheduled dose and I’m more than happy to oblige. I’m back home, my hair is growing and I need a few more weeks rest before I can get back into gear," Fatima shared on Instagram. "As for the bit about my bone dying, I had no idea that could even happen. But hey at least the cancers not back."

Fatima was declared cancer free last winter after undergoing a surgery to remove the tumor and surrounding cells in her left shoulder in January. It wasn't long before Fatima made her triumphant return to cooking at the Pebble Beach Food & Wine event in April.
The Top Chef family has rallied around Fatima during her cancer battle with everyone from her fellow Season 15 Cheftestants to Padma Lakshmi giving her love, support, and, of course, food.
Watch Padma open up more about supporting Fatima during this difficult time during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in February, below.
