Thought Top Chef's Restaurant Wars Was Hard? Just Wait 'Til You See Last Chance Kitchen
Season 19's eliminated chefs face another Restaurant Wars-type challenge as they try to cook their way back into the competition.
As if Restaurant Wars wasn't already difficult enough, Bravo's Top Chef upped the ante for the iconic elimination challenge in Season 19. Each of the two teams had to come up with a restaurant concept to not only serve the judges at a chef's table, as they did amid the pandemic in Season 18, but also a room full of diners.
Unfortunately, this twofold challenge turned out to be a little too difficult for one chef, who Padma Lakshmi told to "please pack your knives and go" at the end of the April 21 episode. But fortunately, this chef gets another shot at redemption in Last Chance Kitchen, which you can view, above. In fact, they kind of get to take another stab at Restaurant Wars, in a way.
That's because the challenge in this latest installment of Last Chance Kitchen is like a mini-Restaurant Wars, giving the eliminated cheftestants a chance to create a new restaurant concept — but there's definitely nothing little about it, as you will see. Even host Tom Colicchio admits, "This challenge is tough."
The chefs agree, using such choice phrases as "that was so f--king hard" and "pretty brutal" to describe the experience. However, their hard work pays off, blowing away Tom and special guest judge Gail Simmons with their dishes.
