Monique Samuels Denies Having a Drinking Problem Following Her Car Accident

When The Real Housewives of Potomac found out the news that Monique Samuels had gotten into a car accident right before their visit to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania, speculation soon arose about the cause of the accident, especially after they heard that she had been drinking at lunch with Ashley Darby and Candiace Dillard the same day it happened. That speculation only intensified when Monique was seen imbibing during their girls' trip. 

Monique addressed all the ladies' chatter when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Sunday. "They're on anything I do. Like, they're obsessed," she said. "I'm just giving them something to talk about. Lead them to water, and they still don't drink." 

Monique then shut down speculation that she has a drinking problem. "Of course not, no," she told Andy Cohen. 

The RHOP mom went on to open up about how rundown she had gotten prior to her car crash and why she let loose during the girls' trip after the accident. See what Monique had to say in the above video.

Monique similarly addressed the ladies' comments during a recent interview with PEOPLE. “I do not have a drinking problem, was not drunk that day, and would never get behind the wheel if I was intoxicated,” she said. 

She also shared with PEOPLE her dismay over seeing Ashley allegedly not speak the truth about how many drinks she had during their lunch. Monique has said that she had only two drinks during their lunch, while Ashley said during the episode that it was three or four. “It’s crazy,” Monique said. “We were close friends. She more than anyone knew the things I was dealing with in my life. And she told me that she never said out her mouth, ‘I had four drinks.’ So to see it on the show the other night for the first time? I was crushed.”

Ashley recalled speaking with Monique about the day of the accident during that dinner at Nemacolin in her latest blog on Bravotv.com. "I knew this was going to come up when we sat down and Blue Eyes became a topic of conversation, and I didn't expect Monique to be receptive to having the discussion about how many drinks we'd had. The focus was not so much how many drinks we consumed (I had four beers as well), it was about discussing if Monique is grappling with things in her life and drinking more than usual. It's nothing to be ashamed of, as we all have different coping mechanisms. Rather than be defensive or hide behind another reason, it's okay to be upfront and consider what's being said. Monique and I had a fun lunch with some bevvies and it resulted in a scary ordeal. I hope she thinks about the reason I brought it up as opposed to getting defensive that I did so."

Ashley also shared on Twitter that she had "genuine concern" for Monique after her car accident. She tweeted during the episode, "I never intended to bring shame to your name. Inviting you to open up @iammrssamuels - there's no need to change facts."

Monique previously opened up to The Daily Dish about the lasting impact of the car accident, sharing that she experienced whiplash and may have even suffered a concussion as well. "It was crazy. I wish I would have immediately gone to a doctor after it happened, but I thought it was OK. But thank God everything turned out the way it did. I was able to walk away from it," she said. "And my husband [Chris Samuels] was very supportive in just making sure I could take things off my plate so that I made sure I would never be that exhausted again."
