Will Gizelle Bryant Ever Get Back Together with Her Ex Sherman Douglas?
Here's what Robyn Dixon sees in her Real Housewives of Potomac BFF's romantic future.
Gizelle Bryant broke things off with her boyfriend, Sherman Douglas, earlier this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. And you know who seemed to take the news the hardest? It was her longtime bestie Robyn Dixon.
It seems like Robyn is still not really over the breakup. "I was so upset because I've been around them, and I really felt like they were made for each other. They were so happy together, they kind of balanced each other out. Sherman's a really funny guy, but he's also low-key, so he'll say funny stuff, but he's not trying to overpower Gizelle," Robyn explained when The Daily Dish recently caught up with her in New York. "She just seemed so happy with him, on top of the fact that Sherman's a basketball player, Juan [Dixon] is a basketball player, I'm like, this is perfect! We can hang out. The guys can go and talk and have fun, and Gizelle and I can go and do our thing. We don't have to worry about making sure the guys get along. It was just a match made in heaven. And then it was over like that. I was so disappointed and upset."
Juan seemed similarly shocked and perplexed when Gizelle shared the news of her split earlier this season of RHOP. "Juan and Sherman had spent time with each other, and I think Juan felt the same way. He knew that Sherman really, really liked Gizelle. He saw how great of a couple they were together," Robyn explained. "And so it was so hard for him to grasp that Gizelle just so quickly was like, 'I'm done,' because he's probably used to me where I've been a little more forgiving for Juan, and we've been together for so long. He's used to seeing people work it out and come to a good place. And so I think he was just like, 'Dang! How you just gonna cut him off like that for something like this? We can work this out.' I think he had hope, but I don't think he was used to seeing someone like Gizelle, who was just like, 'I'm done.' And she was so not emotional about it."
Robyn said that this kind of approach to ending relationships is common for Gizelle, and she has a theory as to why that's the case. "I really admire that about Gizelle that she can, when a relationship is not working for her, she can end it, and move on. But I thought their relationship was a little bit deeper to where she would have wanted to try to get to the bottom of it. But I guess she has a zero tolerance policy," Robyn explained. "Gizelle has always been someone that likes to date, so she gives guys chances. She'll go out on a dinner date with someone real easy and then decide right away whether she's interested in continuing or not. She's very open to meeting new people and going out on dates. And maybe that's why it's so easy for her to say, 'I don't have time for this, I'm gonna move on, because there's other fish in the sea.'"
But Robyn said she isn't so sure we've seen the last of Gizelle and Sherman. "I still have my fingers crossed that somehow Sherman can come crawling back, come to his senses and say, 'Gizelle, I messed up, you're the love of my life. Please, please, please, take me back.' And then she's like, 'Oh, baby, I missed you!' And then it's like happily ever after again," Robyn gushed. "I really feel like it's a possibility that they could get back together just because they just seem so perfect for each other."
Robyn shared that she hopes Sherman ultimately becomes more comfortable with Gizelle's life in the public eye, which seemed to be a contributing factor to the tension that brewed in their relationship — or she should move on to find someone who is OK with that kind of attention. "For Gizelle, I really, really hope she can find a guy who just doesn't watch TV, doesn't care," Robyn said. "It's a tough life. It's not easy for a new romantic interest to just kind of get used to."
