Here's What It's Really Like to Perform with Luann de Lesseps
One of The Real Housewives of New York City's fellow cabaret performers spills the tea on her singing skills.
What better way to move on from a difficult year than through song? Luann de Lesseps made her comeback of sorts with her very own cabaret show, #CountessAndFriends, which premiered at Feinstein's/54 Below in New York City in February and has more performances coming up at the venue this May and June.
The first performance lived up to the show's name with a little help from Luann's friends from across entertainment, including her fellow New York Housewife Sonja Morgan, Broadway stars Lesli Margherita and Tony Yazbek, and RuPaul's Drag Race Season 9 contestant Alexis Michelle.
When The Daily Dish caught up with Alexis at the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City on May 5, she spilled all the tea on what it's really like to share the stage with Luann. And it's just as fabulous an experience as you would imagine. "She's just a lovely, lovely woman. So warm, generous, and lovely to share the stage with," Alexis gushed on the GLAAD Media Awards red carpet. "I've known about Luann and her performing for years, even before I came into the spotlight. I remember I saw her sing at Town Hall several years ago. Yeah, she's amazing."
Alexis Michelle slayed the stage at Luann's cabaret.
In addition to Luann, Alexis said she counts Lisa Vanderpump and Erika Girardi as two of her other favorite Housewives. "I feel like I'm a Vanderpump, sort of, internally. I'm part of the family, you know what I mean? I feel like I'd be one of the clan," Alexis explained. "Erika Jayne is just one of my favorites of all time. I just want to be friends and go for a martini ... I want to hang out with her and Kris Jenner together."
Alexis said she also has a soft spot for Sonja, especially since she knows what it feels like to have a challenging season play out on TV, as is the case for The Real Housewives of New York City mom these days. "As someone who got a lot of heat on their season of reality TV, I just say, don't worry, girl. You'll get through it," Alexis shared, empathizing with Sonja because of her own tough time on RuPaul's Drag Race. "And [being] memorable is good."
