Yes, D'Andra Simmons' Mom Makes Her Squirm in Her Seat, Too
"I am a strong woman in my personal life — until it comes to my mother," the #RHOD newbie said.
One of the fiercest new additions to this season of The Real Housewives of Dallas is D'Andra Simmons' mother Dee. The RHOD matriarch has been serving up some tough love to her daughter as she gets ready to hand over the reins to the family business.
Of course, it's not so easy for RHOD fans to watch such a beautiful boss like D'Andra be put in her place by her mom. So just think how D'Andra feels. "You know, the only time I think it’s hard is when you see my interactions with my mother. I am a strong woman in my personal life — until it comes to my mother. As I’ve said, the only people that I am afraid of are my mother and Jesus! (laughs)," D'Andra said of sharing her personal life on RHOD during a recent interview with The Huffington Post. "She is the matriarch and I am the only child, and when it comes to my mother, she is going to be in control of everything. She is also the matriarch of the business, and you will see me very strong in my business life, but when it comes to my mother, I melt (laughs)."
D'Andra admitted to The Huffington Post that "it's a little embarrassing" that her mother still treats her like a kid sometimes, but she knows that she can't let her pride get in the way of family. "At the end of the day, my mother is the only family member that I have that is alive other than my husband. I have no siblings and if I don’t have my mom in my life, what do I have? Family is important to me because I don’t have a large extended family, so I definitely have to make it work. I love my mom dearly, she is just a strong personality! Sometimes winning leaves you wanting; so sometimes I gotta let her win! (laughs). I have learned with her when and where to draw the line in the sand and definitely when not to."
As for Mama Dee, D'Andra said that she's loving her time on RHOD so far — and we're all going to fall in love with her, too. "You know, I always say, my mother is her own reality star (laughs). I definitely think she will be a fan favorite, and she loves it!" D'Andra gushed. "She says 'I am the mother of a Housewife!'; she is eating this up!"
