Teresa Giudice Begins Prison Sentence
Gia Giudice says the support from family and friends has been "unreal."
Teresa Giudice has begun a new chapter.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star began her 15-month federal prison sentence early Monday morning, her lawyer told NBC New York. She reported to a federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut around 3 a.m.
"She was ready," the lawyer said in a statement of NJ.com. "Teresa is a very strong woman, she won't have any problems in there...When we arrived at Danbury, everyone we encountered was extremely courteous and respectful."
Her daughter, Gia, is also speaking out and thanked friends and family on her public Twitter account for their love: "Support system is unreal," she wrote Sunday evening, "#soblessed." Later, she retweeted an inspiring message from the musician Tyga: "Hard times will always reveal true friends."
Teresa and Joe pleaded guilty last year to multiple counts of bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. Joe will serve 41 months in prison following Teresa's release.
