Ramona Singer Defends the Herve Leger Bandage Dress Amid Controversy
#RHONY's fashionista believes the party staple should be worn by women of all ages — as long as you're toned.
Who wears Herve Lerge? Ramona Singer! And the Real Housewives of New York fashionista has some words for Patrick Couderc, the former managing director of the brand who made controversial statements regarding just who should be allowed to don the red carpet staple. In short, he said the dress shouldn't be worn by women over 23, or by lesbians. Well, Ramona isn't hearing that and we don't blame her. The 58-year-old defended wearing the garment in an interview with New York Post.
Ramona begins by recalling the first time she tried on one of the dresses 22 years ago, then details how she also bought one for her daughter, Avery, when she was 18. "I think Herve Leger dresses look great on any body type, on women of every age — as long as you’re toned," she explained. "So when I heard the news about the executive who has been disparaging women, I decided not to pack up my collection of bandage dresses — including a deep-purple number I bought a couple of years ago for $1,200 from Bergdorf’s — but to fly in the face of his misguided rant."
From there, Ramona continues to proudly fly her bandage dress-loving flag. "I’m proud of my body over 50: I’m physically fit and I still wear bikinis," she said. "I think my body right now is better than when I was 35. To this mean-spirited exec, I say: 'There’s something wrong with you. You must really hate women. I’ll never retire my bandage dress — I’ll be wearing it through my 70s.'”
