La La Land leads with 14 nominations, tying Titanic and All About Eve for the most nods ever for one film.
It's the most glamorous time of the year — at least as far as Hollywood is concerned. And now it's officially in full swing, thanks to the reveal of the nominees for the 89th Academy Awards Tuesday morning.
Instead of announcing the names live in front of, some of the buzziest Oscar winners and nominees of recent years gathered to read the names of the films and individuals honored this year harking back to the early days of the Academy Awards in which the winners were announced prior to the ceremony. Jennifer Hudson, Brie Larson, Glenn Close, Terrence Howard, director Jason Reitman, and Ken Watanabe joined Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs in announcing the nods.
La La Land leads this year's awards with 14 nominations, tying the record held by Titanic and All About Eve. The Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone-led movie-musical is followed by Arrival and Moonlight, each with eight nominations.
