Nick Cannon Gave Us the Scoop on Mariah Carey's Most Diva Moment and It's Totally Not What You'd Expect
Nick also revealed how he feels about his ex having dated a billionaire.
Nick Cannon appeared on Wendy Williams Thursday to talk about what everyone wants to know when they meet him: Mariah Carey.
“What’s the most diva thing you’ve ever seen Mariah do?” Wendy asks, probably expecting a story about her throwing a drink in someone’s face, or getting all the orange candies picked out of her Skittles bag, or not knowing someone. But Mariah is no amateur diva. She goes big.
“Have twins!" Nick exclaims. "She shut the whole hospital down! When they was born, she made me play her music as they was coming out. It was a ‘Fantasy.’ They was dancin to ‘Fantasy.’”
That makes total sense. Can you imagine trying to give birth next to Mariah Carey in labor? It would be so distracting you’d forget to push your own baby out.
Wendy wanted more drama, so she jumped back in by asking, "Are you and Mariah still sleeping together?" She continued, "In my mind, you are and there would be nothing wrong with that."
"There would be nothing wrong with that," Nick replied. "But that's not the case."
Wendy persisted, setting the scene.
"After midnight and the wine is flowing,” she says, “She never calls you, 'Hey Nicky!'"
"There's nothing but unconditional love there," Nick responded very tolerantly. "I mean, she's gorgeous but, you know, I'm respectful. I put the kids to bed and I go home."
Nick even went so far as to say that he celebrated Mariah’s new relationships, especially when she was engaged to billionare James Packer. "I wanted her to be with the billionaire!” he said, “More yachts for everybody.”
In general, Nick seems to have a good perspective on his past relationship with the greatest living pop singer of our time.
"I feel like when two people are in a relationship, it should be about growth. It should be a situation where everyone's becoming a better human being in the relationship," he said. "So when you get to a point where there's no longer any growth and you're not bettering each other — especially as you're building a household to become one — I felt like it was probably best, especially for our children, since they're the number one priority, if I could be the best human being and the best father from outside of that house. That's why it happened."
What a great perspective, but we’d still have preferred to hear the good gossip, Nick.
