Eric Bana Loves Connie Britton Just as Much as the Rest of Us
The actor teases what you can expect from Bravo's upcoming anthology series Dirty John.
As if we weren't already dying to see Bravo's upcoming anthology series, Dirty John, The Daily Dish caught up with one of the show's stars, Eric Bana, at the NBCUniversal Upfront in New York on Monday, and he spilled all on why this tale of romance, secrets, and lies will be the talk of TV when it premieres.
In the upcoming series, based on the articles and popular podcast of the same name from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard, Bana will star as the handsome and charming John Meehan, who woos single mother and interior designer Debra Newell (Connie Britton). But we'll soon see that John is definitely not who he seems. "I just thought the material was potentially very exciting and complicated. I think it's a very challenging storyline for viewers. It brings up a lot of issues," Bana told The Daily Dish of what drew him to the role. "And my co-star Connie Britton was already attached, so that made the decision a little bit easier. But I was fascinated by the podcast and thought it would make some interesting television."
Bana said that he's looking forward "to sink[ing] my teeth into a character" and working with Alexandra Cunningham, who is writing and executive producing the series. The process of adapting a podcast for TV has already been a "completely different" experience from adapting other source materials for the screen for Bana.
In addition to starring in Dirty John, Bana will also be serving as an executive producer, along with Britton, who he's as excited to work with in front of the camera as behind it. We mean, it is Connie Britton, after all. "Yeah, it's just nice to be involved from the ground up and so too is Connie. And so we feel like good partners on this project," he said of working as an executive producer on the series. "I really love her work and [I'm] really excited to get a chance to work with her finally."
We have a feeling that finally seeing these two on screen together will be worth the wait.
