NeNe Leakes Is Headed to Broadway
The RHOA star scores a role in Cinderella—all the details.
From Cirque to Soleil to Broadway!
NeNe Leakes is set to join the New York City production of Cinderella, Playbill reports. The Real Housewives of Atlanta Star is joining the show in the role of the wicket stepmother Madame. Her first performance kicks off November 25.
NeNe is starring in the show for its final run of performances. The production is set to close on January 3, after playing 41 previews and 770 regular performances, according to Playbill. NeNe will be taking over the role from Sherri Shepherd.
It's been a good year for NeNe Leakes' acting career. After star turns on Glee and The New Normal, she most recently starred in the Las Vegas version of Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity this summer. The Gothic-steeped production was "part burlesque/part cabaret" and took fans on a "sexy thrill ride full of sensational acrobatics and naughty fun."
What might be on the Housewife's plate following Cinderella? Earlier this year, NeNe opened up about how much she'd love to do a talk show in the future, especially one like The View. "That's definitely on my bucket list," she said. "I already work with five or six women so I know how that can be. Working on The View is probably like working on the Housewives. I would love to get in there and chop it up with those girls."
NeNe hasn't only been beefing up her acting resume. She's also been tackling fashion. She debuted her first clothing line, the NeNe Leakes Collection, on HSN this summer. The line features sequins, leggings and blazers and an array of sizes for skinnier frames and, as NeNe has said, the curvier girls.
