Dorinda Medley on What's Next for Luann D'Agostino After Divorce: "She Deserves Happiness"
"I’m here to help her whatever way I can," the #RHONY mom shared.
Luann D'Agostino announced that she and husband, Tom D'Agostino, plan to divorce on Thursday. And possibly no one was more heartbroken than Dorinda Medley.
After The Real Housewives of New York City mom shared her initial reaction with Us Weekly, she expressed a similar sentiment in an interview with PEOPLE. “I’m just very saddened, you know. It’s always sad to see a marriage break up and obviously so quickly. I wish them the best. I’m just very sad. It’s heartbreaking, really,” Dorinda said after learning about the split. “It’s heartbreaking for Luann, too, because I love her and I know how much she loves Tom.”
Dorinda has long been supportive of Luann and Tom's relationship since she famously set them up in 2015. She even served as a bridesmaid at Luann and Tom's wedding in Palm Beach on December 31, 2016. “I thought Tom was a really nice guy. And she seemed very happy. I thought they had kind of resolved and worked through [their issues]," Dorinda told PEOPLE. "We all go through s*** — look at me, okay. Nothing’s perfect even though people try to make it out to be.”
Dorinda said that she is hopeful that Luann and Tom can still have a good relationship moving forward. “Luann is very good at [remaining friendly] with all her exes,” she said. “I think obviously this one might be hard at the beginning, but Luann’s not like that. She keeps it moving. She makes a decision. Every one of her exes she’s still very close to. I’m sure it will take time. I love Luann — she’s a good girl. She deserves happiness and I’m here to help her whatever way I can.”
Sonja Morgan also lent her support to Luann during this difficult time. "I told Luann I'm there for her whether this worked out or not and here I am. Men come and go, and at the end the day, we have our girlfriends, don't we?" Sonja said in a statement to E! News Thursday. "I wanted it to work out, but I want her to know I'm here for her."
Ramona responded to Luann's divorce announcement on Twitter by saying, "I am so sad for you ...." She also shared her reaction to the news in a statement to E! News on Thursday. "My heart breaks for her," Ramona said. "Luann went into this wanting to make it work. I've never seen her happier."
Tinsley Mortimer also sent some love Luann's way. "My heart goes out to Luann during this difficult time," the RHONY newbie told E! News. "In life, some people think that it's holding on that makes one strong; however, sometimes it's letting go."
