Lisa Vanderpump & Ken Todd Aim to Stop Yulin Forever with March Protesting Dog Abuse
"I don't feel I could live my life knowing this goes on without making an attempt to stop it," Lisa says.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd are committed to stopping dog abuse in China, and have publicly spoken out against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival as co-founders of Stop Yulin Forever. They'll continue their fight on Sunday, October 4, when they lead a walk to protest the practice that tortures and kills canines.
The Vanderpump Rules boss and her supporters are marching in peaceful protest with the help of a very famous friend who also supports the cause. "I phoned Sharon [Osbourne] and said, 'You're a dog lover. Same as me,'" Lisa told Entertainment Tonight. “And she said, 'I'll do whatever you need.' I won't forget that either because she's a woman who stands up for what's right."
It’s Lisa’s hope that she can lend her voice to end the tragic event. "[The festival] was brought to my attention and I was absolutely devastated at seeing this kind of heinous, barbaric torture of these poor animals," she continued. "I don't feel I could live my life knowing this goes on without making an attempt to stop it."
If you’re in the Los Angeles area this Sunday, Lisa wants you to join the fight — with your furry friends in tow. “I’m encouraging people to bring their dogs to the march and to stand up and make a difference,” she told Los Angeles Confidential. “As a celebrity, and I use that word loosely, I have a voice and I have a platform and I’m damn well going to use it in the same way [I did] when I spoke specifically in support of marriage equality. I believe that as somebody that’s in the public eye it’s my responsibility and it’s also my passion, so I’m going to be an advocate for change.”
RHOBH cast-mate Lisa Rinna tweeted her support for the passion project of Lisa's.
Also in attendance will be Real Housewives of Orange County alum Gretchen Rossi.
Daddy of Wacha, Andy Cohen, also sent his support via social media.
Stop Yulin Forever's peaceful protest takes place from Macarthur Park Recreation Center to the Chinese Consulate-General, Los Angeles on Sunday, October 4. Participants are encouraged to sign up on StopYulinForever.org. And, yes, Giggy will be there!
