Lea Michele Has Sleepovers With This Former Glee Co-Star — and We're Really Jealous
The singer-actress reveals who she's closest with from the cast these days.
It seems Glee is a bit like a fraternity. Once you've appeared on the show, you're forever bonded by the experience with your co-stars. That may explain why Lea Michele remains extremely tight with her former small-screen squad.
"I mean, just within the past few hours of the morning I've talked to Amber [Riley], Chord [Overstreet] and Darren [Criss], all separately just today," she recently told The Daily Dish. "So I talked to Jenna [Ushkowitz] yesterday. So, yeah, they're like my family. And it's kind of one of those things where even if we don't see each other that much, the minute we see each other it's literally like we never left."
In fact, Lea and Darren recently treated Glee superfans to a mini-reunion when they appeared and performed together in a Facebook Live event earlier this month. "I mean, I slept at his house the night before. We had a sleepover, him and his girlfriend and I crashed at their house," she said. "I mean, I love them. He's like my brother. When we sing together, we're sort of reminded of that musical connection that we have, and we work incredibly well together. Darren and I, we performed so many times together on Glee, and we really, like I said, we work incredibly well together. We wanted to put those songs out for our fans and maybe, hopefully, in the future do something on a larger scale together."
Speaking of the good ol' days, Lea may be busy out and about promoting her upcoming album, Places, set for release on April 28, but that doesn't mean she's too busy to take a call from Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who she also worked with on Scream Queens. "I would absolutely love to [work with Ryan again]. I would love to be on the new season of Feud or American Crime Story. I love Ryan. He's such a genius, and he truly is at the forefront of television," she said. "I was so grateful to have been a part of two of his shows already, and obviously I can only dream of doing more."
And, yes, being so busy means that she hasn't quite gotten the chance to check out Heather Morris on Dancing with the Stars. "I haven't had the chance to see it just because I'm never home to watch television. I'm more of a Netflix and chill kind of gal, but I heard she's crushing it," she said of the former Beyoncé back-up dancer. "I mean, it's sort of a little bit of cheating to me, but I wish her only the best."
