5 Things You Didn't Know About Kyle Richards' Daughter Farrah
The #RHOBH daughter opens up about her career, her family, and her love of cats.
Fans have watched Kyle Richards' oldest daughter, Farrah Aldjufrie, grow up right before their eyes. She's celebrated some life milestones on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (including her college graduation), but to viewers she still might be a bit of a mystery. So to find out more about the L.A.-based real estate agent, we here at The Daily Dish went right to the source: Farrah herself. Get the scoop on Farrah, below.
1. She Works at The Agency
Farrah works as an agent at Mauricio Umansky's Los Angeles-based real estate firm. In fact, she has an office right next to her stepdad aka her "best boss and mentor." And while she could have easily followed in her mom's footsteps and gone into acting, her passion for real estate really shaped her career choice after graduating from University of Southern California in 2010. "I always have been interested in real estate since I was a little kid. I'd drive around to open houses with my mom and Mauricio when I was 6, 7, 8 years old, I'd love to see all the houses," she told The Daily Dish. "I know L.A. geographically really, really well having grown up here. I was an only child for the first eight years, so I spent a lot of time with them and was very interested in everything Mauricio was doing. But I have my own love for property and being in L.A. there's some of the most amazing properties and lifestyles in the world."
2. She's Not Interested in the Other Family Business
With her mom Kyle, aunt Kim Richards, and cousins Nicky and Paris Hilton having dabbled in acting, one would think Farrah might have gotten bit by the acting bug over the years — eh, not exactly. "The entertainment business is awesome, it's fun, but there's only so far you can go and then what happens when your career [and] your days are over? That kind of scared me about it," she explained. "Whereas real estate is forever and you can make a lot of money and it's not as much about luck as about hard work." Despite growing up around the spotlight Farrah considers herself more resolved. "I'm just naturally a little more shy than my mom and some people in my family. But I'm not seeking out the spotlight as much," she said. "I'm more a behind-the-scenes person and with real estate you can have a great life and have a fun, fun job and make a lot of money. So it's a little more stable and I like that."
3. There's No Sibling Rivalry
Despite her younger sisters growing up on TV, Farrah says her family is pretty regular. "I think our family's so balanced and normal, I know a lot of people say that, but really we're super, super tight knit. We're super, super close," she explained. "My mom, I don't know how she juggles being this celebrity on the show and being the mom that would never miss one game or pick her kids up from school. And she's so involved and they're so incredibly loving and supportive, so I think that because of that being on the show is a fun fact of our family. I don't think it's the centerpiece of it." RHOBH viewers have seen Kyle and Mauricio's youngest daughter, Portia, go from a toddler to a playful actor-in-the-making, but Farrah assures us that her little sister hasn't changed despite growing up around cameras. "I don't think it's changed my sisters. I don't think they're bratty. I mean Portia's literally grown up on the show, and she has this sassier attitude, but I think my parents are just such amazing parents that it hasn't really changed much," Farrah said. "Our core values have always been there and I don't think that it's affected them that much honestly."
4. She's Part of One Big Happy Family
"Our immediate family is super, super tight. We're all supportive of each other. We all love being together, but also my cousins and I are extremely tight as well, like Kim's kids [and] my other cousins. We travel together multiple times a year. We're together every weekend," Farrah explained. "Obviously our family has their ups and downs, as everyone knows, but overall we have a very strong bond, so it's pretty awesome." Although, Farrah admits that seeing her mom and Aunt Kim Richards struggle on the show can be difficult. "The only down part of the whole thing is that aspect of it because that kind of stuff is very personal and it's never easy. So that is hard to watch, but I think it's hard because we all love each other so much and we're all so close."
5. She's About to Have a Baby...
Well, not really. But Farrah has every plan to steal her cousin, Nicky Hilton's, baby once she gives birth. "[I'm] so excited! Like, we can't even believe it. The first one of our generation is having a baby. She lives in New York, so I don't see her as much, but I see her every couple of months and we are so excited," Farrah said. "That baby is going to have a million moms. We're going to be trying to steal it all the time. I hope she's the type that lets us because I will definitely be flying to New York. [Kim's daughter] Whitney and I are definitely like, 'Can we please move in and be a babysitter?' We're beyond excited and cannot wait for that."
But, that doesn't mean she's rushing to become a mom herself.
"No! I mean I have a boyfriend and he's amazing, but were taking it slow, [I'm] still young and working, focusing on my job and everything," she said. "Although it's funny when [my mom] was my age she already had two kids, and then three years from now, when she was 30, she already had three kids, which is wild."
6. She LOVES a Good Time... and Cats
"I might come across on the show a little mysterious or quiet but I'm actually extremely social. I travel a lot when I can because of work. I'm really into music and super, super into health and lifestyle," Farrah told The Daily Dish.
"I have two cats and I'm really obsessed with them. I'm like a super cat lady. My cats sleep on my head every night and I love it."
