What's Next for Kroy Biermann's Football Career? Kim Zolciak-Biermann Weighs In
The #DontBeTardy mom reveals what the future holds for her husband after his release from the Buffalo Bills.
Earlier this month it was confirmed that Kroy Biermann would be a NFL free agent again after he was released from the Buffalo Bills. And with his options wide open, Kim Zolciak-Biermann confirmed that her husband is back out there, ready to take on the world.
"He's doing well. He's in a different city right now. I'm making him fly here [to New York] before he goes to another city actually, so he's kind of all over the place. He's just trying to figure out what's a good fit for him and what's most important to him is he wants to play," Kim told The Daily Dish exclusively during her visit to New York. "He's sweet. He's a really, really hard worker. The NFL is definitely — it's interesting. It's tough."
Having had a strong career thus far, Kim shared that Kroy is keeping an open mind about what's next. "It's been really awesome. He's signed four contracts, I think, with the [Atlanta] Falcons, so to be with one team for your entire career at this point is a pretty big deal. Kroy's very hard working. He gives football all he has and it is a little scary to kind of go out and see what's out there and what kind of works for him. He deserves the best and he'll get what fits for our family. We'll support him wherever he goes."
Still, being a football player's wife isn't as glamorous as someone outside of the profession might think. "Being married to an athlete is something I never thought I wanted. [Laughs.] I would run from that for many, many years. But Kroy, that's his profession. It's almost like a 9 to 5 for him per se," she explained. "I film Don't Be Tardy in his off season and then I'm kind of off during football season, so we balance it out. It's hectic. I think people have this misconception that the NFL, it's amazing [and] they get paid a lot of money [and] they play and do what they love to do. And it's generally a short-lived career."
Also, the demanding schedule of a professional athlete means he's not always home for major celebrations in the Biermann household. "He's not home for Christmas, Thanksgiving. We sacrifice a lot of those things. I'm almost a single mom," she said. "This year I feel like moreso 'cause he's not in Atlanta, so more single mom than anything. These past few years he's been with Atlanta so that's where our home is. This year's definitely different. It's definitely different and nerve-wracking. 'Where are you gonna go visit today? Are they going to like you? Is it a match?' It's definitely stressful. At the end of the day I want Kroy happy... It is like a job interview, but performance. And you can't be tired. There's 1,600 people in the NFL and my husband's definitely been blessed to be in there for eight years and play a few more."
Kim, Kroy, and their family will be back for more Don't Be Tardy when the show returns Wednesday, September 14 at 10/9c.
