Kim Zolciak-Biermann's #DWTS Partner Previews Her Skills and Dishes on Rehearsals with Kroy
Tony Dovolani breaks down what fans can expect during the Season 21 premiere.
Get your dancing shoes on! Well, at least Kim Zolciak-Biermann needs to do so. The Don't Be Tardy star is set to make her Dancing With the Stars debut during Monday's (September 14) Season 21 premiere where she will face off against an array of celebs from all walks of life, including Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, Tamar Braxton, Gary Busey, and Paula Deen. Ahead of the premiere, The Daily Dish chatted with her dance pro, Tony Dovolani, who gushed about his partner.
"I'm very happy with what I've seen so far. She's got a great attitude," he said. "Just getting to meet her was a pleasure because in watching her show over all these years, you kind of have an idea of what this person is. And then you meet them and you go, 'Oh, OK, hold on they're different,' or, 'They're the same.' And in this particular case, she is exactly what she's like on TV. And that's pretty cool."
Of course, their rehearsals so far have been a family affair, including a cameo from her husband, Kroy. "Kim has been a blast. Both she and Kroy, because Kroy has been coming in quite often to support," he said. "I think the two of them are just awesome. They're a great couple. She's fun to work with. She's exciting. She's got a lot going on in her life. It's fun to see it from that aspect."
Kim is a novice when it comes to dancing, but she's been putting in a lot of work to get it right for Monday night. "She's giving me everything she's got. She practices at home a lot, as much as she can. Her daughters are completely into it and they try to help her as much as possible. Her husband, obviously you know how they met, so he's into it. He wants her to do well. She's trying her best and that's all you could ever ask for as a teacher. As long as your celebrity is trying her best, that's all that matters. Now whether we succeed or not, that remains to be seen because we haven't danced yet on the live show. The live show brings out sometimes the best, sometimes the worst out of a person. In this particular case, I feel like Kim's gonna be great."
Tony hopes that when viewers tune in all that hard work is evident. "I think we have the opportunity to really show everybody how someone can start from zero and really improve every single week," he said. "We're trying to be as clean as possible in her choreography. [Kroy and I are] trying to pump her up. I'm trying to get her focused as much as possible. But she's got the right attitude for it. I really do like working with her because she approaches it as a mom that's busy, that knows that when she's there she's got to make the most of her time because she might not get that time back."
And, yes, they have been working hard on their first dance costumes as well. Tony couldn't reveal much else about the salsa number, but whatever they have planned sounds exciting. "We have a very cool theme that I cannot reveal yet," he said. "We're really really excited about it and we're hoping we pull it off."
We may not know what she's going to wear on the dancefloor, but we already know her wig game will be on lock. The proof is below.
