Kim Zolciak-Biermann Reunited with an Estranged Family Member
The Don't Be Tardy matriarch received the sweetest 40th birthday gift.
One of Kim Zolciak-Biermann's best gifts for her 40th birthday this year wasn't jewelry, a handbag, or a car. It was a person.
Kim reunited with her brother, Mike Zolciak, for her birthday. The Don't Be Tardy matriarch shared several photos on Instagram of herself, her husband Kroy Biermann, her brother Mike, and his wife Jessica hanging out in the car with nothing but smiles on their faces. "Pretty cool birthday gift my brother @mikezolciak and his wife Jessica came down from CT to celebrate!" Kim shared in the post on Instagram. "These are some Car Chronicles photos. #WeHappy #WeFunny #WeBlood #WeFamily."
The Don't Be Tardy mom tweeted on May 18 that she hadn't seen her brother in 17 years. She also teased that she was "making dreams happen," and she thanked former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones and his wife Taylor in the tweet.
Kim previously opened up about her strained relationship with her brother in Season 4 of Don't Be Tardy when she returned to her hometown of Windsor Locks, Connecticut for the first time in 16 years on her way to an appearance at the Mohegan Sun casino (clip above). At the time, Kim shared that she was not on speaking terms with her brother.
Kim has long been open about her estrangement from her parents, with whom she has had a challenging relationship even before she came into the spotlight. Kim and her daughter, Brielle Biermann, decided to reach out to her parents last season of Don't Be Tardy six years after they had last seen them. When Brielle invited her grandmother to meet up with the Biermanns the next day, she declined due to a previous engagement, which brought Kim to tears.
Kim has not changed her mind about her parents, but that doesn't mean she's going to stand in the way of her children forming their own relationship with them. "I've learned after many years that my mom is who she is and that's it. I'm thankful for my upbringing. I don't have any regrets, but I can't change somebody. So it took me many years to realize that," she told The Daily Dish in December 2017. "But I will never discourage Brielle or Ariana [Biermann] or any of them to not have a relationship with their grandparents or whoever they choose to have a relationship with."
