How Has Kim Zolciak-Biermann Changed Most Since Her Stroke?
The #DontBeTardy mom reflects on life and family one year after her health scare.
Kim Zolciak-Biermann faced a life-changing health scare just 12 months ago. While competing on Dancing with the Stars, the mother-of-six suffered a mini-stroke, which later resulted in her leaving the show and undergoing heart surgery. It was a series of events, she tells The Daily Dish, that "changes everything."
With her hospitalization behind her, Kim is now reflecting on that time in her life and how it's forever altered her views. "I don't even know if I would know what to do without chaos," the Don't Be Tardy mama told us. "There's always something going on. My health definitely has changed my perspective. I don't know if I would look at [Kroy Biermann's] free agency the way that I do today a year ago. There's parts of me that are very thankful for my stroke and how I've evolved. I'm just not as attached to [questions like,] 'Where are we going to live? What are we going to do?' It doesn't matter. We'll work it out and we'll figure it out, which is actually a really awesome feeling."
In fact, her daughter, Brielle, has also noticed that shift in Kim's thinking. "Before my mom had the stroke, she was always, like she said, very on top of everything and she would worry so much," Brielle explained. "[Now,] just not as much. You're very loose, carefree. You used to be up my ass and you kind of leave me alone now."
To mark the anniversary of her stroke, Kim recently posted a message to her fans about how your health should be a priority. "At 37 I thought I was invincible ... boy was I wrong. I thank God everyday that I'm still here on this planet," she wrote. "We have to listen to ourselves, especially us women. We put our husband and children before us often times and we need to really listen to our bodies. There is (usually) warning signs."
Kim is sharing the newfound perspective this scary event has given her. "I just want to convey to people that it all will work out," she told The Daily Dish. "I'm always one of those worrywarts. It all has to be planned out; it all has to fit like a puzzle and if it doesn't, I'm all over the place. [But] it doesn't really matter."
Below, Kim shares an update on her husband Kroy as he starts a new chapter in his football career.
