Kim Zolciak-Biermann Forced to Depart #DWTS
Because of show rules and her recent health scare, the #DontBeTardy star unfortunately exits early.
After suffering a mini-stroke last week, Kim Zolciak-Biermann has officially withdrawn from competition on Dancing With the Stars, it was announced during Monday night's (September 29) broadcast. The show's rules prevent the Don't Be Tardy mom from competing any further. "The rules state, and these are rules that we've had since 2005, when we started the show," host Tom Bergeron said. "And, I'm quoting from them. In the instance of illness or other health related matters affecting a participant's ability to participate in the game, they must withdraw."
Appearing via skype, Kim opened up about the health scare. "I'm good," she said. "I feel really great. I don't know if you know, but I rehearsed on Saturday. I learned that whole dance that Jenna just did and then my doctor told me yesterday that it's just too soon to fly. That I can go next week. So I'm really sad. I can dance; I just can't fly. And if I lived in Vegas, or I even lived 12 hours [away], I would be there tonight but I didn't get discharged until Friday evening and there's just no way I could make it L.A." (Kim also shared footage from that rehearsal on Instagram.)
Her dance pro, Tony Dovolani, was in the DWTS studio on Monday and he applauded Kim for following her doctor's orders. "I just wish her well. They said that she might be able to fly on Sunday next week. So, if the rules could be bent, maybe just one time?" he teased. The dance team also took their cause to Twitter, rallying for fans to speak up to get them back on the show.
Fans, including the show's co-host Erin Andrews, showed their support for Kim on Twitter.
A new episode of Don't Be Tardy airs this Sunday, October 4 at 10/9c. Watch a preview, below.
