Kim Cattrall Claps Back at Accusations of Diva Behavior, Calls Out Sarah Jessica Parker
The actress' alleged remarks explained why she won't appear onscreen again as Samantha Jones.
Last week, Sarah Jessica Parker delivered a blow to fans hoping to catch up with fictional New Yorkers Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha. "It's over ... we're not doing [Sex and the City 3]," the actress told Extra TV. “I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.” (Oh, hi. That audience would be us. You got our letters?)
For years, rumors have swirled that Kim Cattrall and SJP aren't exactly as close as their onscreen counterparts Samantha and Carrie. So, when the news surfaced that the third movie has been kiboshed, there was tons of speculation. Was this because of the alleged feud?
The Daily Mail even suggested that Cattrall's outrageous "demands" were to blame for the halt in production. The actress was quick to respond to the diss, claiming on Twitter: "The only 'DEMAND' I ever made was that I didn't want to do a 3rd film....& that was back in 2016." But why don't you want to make another film, Kim? WHY?
We have a bit more clarity on this after the famous blonde explained her position earlier this week. And let's just say: her words did nothing to quell those spat rumors.
According to The Daily Mail, Cattrall sat down with Piers Morgan to film an episode of his series Life Stories. When the contentious topic came up, Cattrall reportedly maintained that she had been politely turning down the project for more than a year, and had never wavered on her position. So, she questioned, what's up with the sudden buzz?
"It’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying ['no' to] for almost a year ... that I’m demanding or a diva," she reportedly said. "And this is really where I take to task the people from Sex And The City and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer."
Ugh. We so badly want these two to be real life pals. But, all is not lost. Cattrall also said of her relationship with SJP: "There is genuine affection and there has been over the years."
