Why Did Kendall Jenner Break Up with Instagram?
"I honestly didn’t even think anyone would care," the model said.
Kendall Jenner shocked the world when she deleted her Instagram account earlier this week. Those who liked to keep up with the model through her timeline were probably pretty bummed to discover the message, "Sorry, this page isn't available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed," instead of the usual flurry of glamorous selfies. Now, she's explaining why she left the site.
"It's so crazy to me that it even became huge news like that. I have no idea how that [happened]. I mean, I guess I didn't expect it. I also took my Twitter off my phone. I didn’t delete my Twitter entirely, but I took the app off my phone, so I had no idea anyone was even talking about it. I honestly didn’t even think anyone would care," she shared with Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show. "My friends kept texting me and my family members and I was like, 'How does everyone know?' And started sending me links to CNN and all these things, and I'm like, 'Why is this even this big of a deal?'"
But, it was. And while her fans may be in need of a Kendall fix, her reason for the break is kind of refreshing. “I just wanted to detox. I felt like, I just wanted a little bit of a break. I’m always on it. I would wake up in the morning, and I would look at it first thing. I would go to bed and it was the last thing I would look at," she said. "I felt a little too dependent on it, so I kind of wanted to take a minute to detox. I'll be back. I'll come back."
While she joked that "withdrawals are starting” since she left, she does love how it's changed her IRL experiences. "I'll be on my phone and find myself going to click on Instagram and it won't be there, and I kind of love that. It's a nice refreshing feeling," she said. "It's really nice, I suggest it... you start to engage in real life. It's kind of really nice to be away from it."
