Gigi Hadid Supports Taylor Swift After Kanye West Debuts Controversial Lyric About Her
The #RHOBH daughter stood by her squad member following the fashion show and The Life of Pablo listening.
Kanye West debuted his upcoming album The Life of Pablo at his Yeezy Season 3 fashion show at New York's Madison Square Garden Thursday, and it's already causing some controversy. That's because the track "Famous" includes the lyric "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous."
Though Gigi Hadid, who's well known for being one of Taylor's closest friends, attended the show, she made it clear that she wasn't a fan of what Kanye had to say about her friend. "My attendance somewhere does not mean I agree with everything being said in the music playing there," Gigi tweeted after the Yeezy Season 3 show. "My friends know of my loyalty."
A spokesperson for Taylor said she does not support the lyric either. “Kanye did not call for approval,” her spokesperson said in a statement about the track, as reported by Variety. “But to ask Taylor to release his single Famous on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous.'”
Kanye defended his lyric through several tweets posted Friday morning, saying that he "did not diss Taylor Swift" and that the lyric was actually inspired by something she said to one of their mutual friends.
Aside from brewing a potential beef, the Yeezy Season 3 show, which featured the artist's latest clothing line of casual, earth-toned streetwear, was a star-studded affair. Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian debuted her new platinum blonde 'do at the show with her famous family by her side.
