Julie Klausner on #RHONY: “I Could Watch It All Day — and I Do”

With The Real Housewives Awards in full swing, we've asked celebrities and pop culture icons to share why they love our hit franchise. This week, Difficult People star Julie Klausner, on what her "unfaltering" love for the Real Housewives of New York and, most importantly, Countess Luann.

I've never missed an episode of Real Housewives of New York City. My relationship with the Real Housewives of New York City is unfaltering. I think Real Housewives of New York City is more a comedy of manners and I think that the women they all have a pedigree of, it’s not the intelligence and education that I find really compelling, [it's] the competing pretentiousness I find particularly hilarious. Whether it's because I grew up here, or whether it's because it's more relatable, I'm not sure. But the idea that pretentiousness, as opposed to fame and money and flash and popularity, is a bigger theme is really, really amusing to me. Just the fact that Carole is a Radziwill. And Luann is the Countess, and the other girls don't let her get away with that when she's feeling like she's full of herself. It’s just — it’s the best. I could watch that all day — and I do.

Luann de Lesseps hands down [is my favorite]. Always has been and always will be, unless she sets fire to my house or does something terrible to me personally, which even then I think I would probably have to hand it to her. For this season alone, just the face she made when Heather said "you'd react the same way if you woke up to a naked man" and she said "not really," the face was just so, ah, the contempt and the dismissal...Oh my God, I laughed out loud. I was just in heaven when she said that. That was my favorite of this season by far.

The only reason I like watching anything having to do with Heather Dubrow is that Terry Dubrow is likely to show up at any given minute wearing that leather jacket he likes. The idea that Terry Dubrow thinks he looks cool in that leather jacket is worth the price of admission.

Ramona [Singer for the Lifetime Achievement Award]. No question, no hesitation. She should get a Lifetime Achievement Award every day. I mean she's a real veteran, really when it comes down to it. I think we should all celebrate Ramona on Veteran's Day. It’s not that she’s been through a lot, because that implies that she's passive. She's initiated a lot. She’s lived through a lot that she's created of her own volition. I look forward to growing old with Ramona. I think I already have.
