Jill Zarin Sets the Record Straight on If She's Dating Again After Bobby Zarin's Passing (UPDATED)
The RHONY alum has been romantically linked to a fellow six months following Bobby's passing.
According to the rumor mill, Jill Zarin is dating again. The Real Housewives of New York City alum has been linked to Gary Brody following Bobby Zarin's passing in January. Sources tell Us Weekly that he is “not her boyfriend, and the situation is evolving," adding, "they’ve played tennis as friends for a long time but have been casually hanging out for a few months.” E! News reports that they were spotted at Wimbledon in London last week hanging with Jill's daughter, adding, "[Her daughter] Ally [Shapiro] loves him."
However, Jill was quick to set the record straight about what her actual status with Gary is. “I don’t typically comment on tabloid stories but I felt it was important to set the record straight and let you all know I haven’t been dating anyone for six months,” she said in a statement to PEOPLE. “I just started accepting a few dinner dates after much thought and support from my close friends and family. I felt Bobby would want me to start to live again.”
She spoke a bit more about her relationsip with the clothing executive in a statement to Us Weekly, sharing, “Gary very much respects the grieving process I am going through and has been an incredible friend to talk to. He only wants the best for me and my daughter."
When The Daily Dish spoke to Jill back in the spring, she opened up about her life after Bobby and how she felt about finding love again (more on that in the video above). "Well I've adjusted to it with open arms because I have no other choice. And I'm an optimist, not a pessimist. So I see [it as] this is in God's hands," she said, noting that before he died, Jill and Bobby discussed her next chapter. "He told me what he wanted for me. It was very sad ... But he wants me to move on, he wants me to be happy. He wants me to work. He wants me to play tennis. He knows I love it and he knows that that's probably a good place for me to meet a nice guy and he doesn't want me to alone. He's not selfish like that."
