Is Luann de Lesseps Signing a Prenup Before She Gets Married?
The #RHONY countess has some planning to do before she ties the knot.
As the old saying goes, "First comes love, then comes marriage." But before that last part, many couples these days decide whether or not they're going to have a prenuptial agreement.
So will newly-engaged Luann de Lesseps sign a prenup with her fiancé Thomas D'Agostino Jr. before they tie the knot? "Well, you know, he's a very accomplished person, and I have two children and a lot of assets, so we definitely will have a prenup, absolutely," The Real Housewives of New York City countess said in an interview with Jenny McCarthy during her SiriusXM show Tuesday.
And Luann plans on keeping it simple when she signs the agreement. "What's yours is yours, and what's mine is mine. That's it," she said.
However, Sonja Morgan, who got divorced from her husband in 2008, sees things a little differently. "I like what's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine, too. But they didn't go for that one, Jenny," she joked.
But Luann said her attitude toward her first prenup helped her maintain an amicable relationship with her first husband, Count Alexandre de Lesseps, after they split in 2009. "I'm not like that, I'll tell you. That's why I have a great relationship with my ex-husband. I never went after him. He was a gentleman, and when we separated, he gave me assets, and he kept certain assets, but he was generous," Luann explained. "And so, you know, I feel like I was very lucky. I was married to a wonderful guy for 16 years. I have two great children. We still have a great relationship."
Of course, Thomas was a big topic of conversation among Luann and Sonja, who was also rumored to have dated the countess' fiancé. Sonja confirmed the reports during the SiriusXM interview. "We were dating for many years, but we're friends, OK? And I'm happy for him, and I'm happy for Lu," she said.
Sonja elaborated on the nature of their relationship and why she and Thomas eventually called it quits. "We were seeing each other when we wanted to see each other," she said. "We were friends. We have a lot of friends in common. We had a nice relationship, a respectful, quiet, discreet one."
So how does Luann really feel about marrying Sonja's ex? "BL, Before Lu, I couldn't care what happened. I really can't," she said. "And you know what? I don't blame him for doing Sonja. I would do Sonja if I was a man. I totally get it. She's hot."
And don't think that Luann doesn't allow these two to be in the same room together these days. "No, he's totally in love with me, my love," she said. "I'm the one going down the aisle."
Sonja reiterated that though she had a relationship with Tom, she never intended to marry him. "Tom's perfect with Lu," she said.
Sonja continued to gush about Tom, in a platonic way, of course, when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live Tuesday. "I love him. I love him a lot. Yes, he's a great guy," she said. "I love the Countess. I want them to be happy, and I'm very excited about their upcoming nuptials."
Sonja even said that she wanted Andy Cohen to officiate the ceremony, which the WWHL host agreed to. Talk about a dream wedding.
