Heather Dubrow Applauds Shannon Beador for "Reinventing Herself"
The RHOC alum opens up about watching the mom of three take on a new career after her split.
Shannon Beador is certainly going on a journey this season of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Viewers are watching as she navigates life as a single mom and as an entrepreneur, thanks to the launch of her food line, Real for Real Cuisine. We all watched as she made her QVC debut earlier this season on the show, and it's clear to OC alum Heather Dubrow that Shannon's evolution into this mogul and foodie is a perfect fit for the mom of three.
After previously revealing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she texted Shannon as she was about to make her QVC debut, when Heather stopped by The Daily Dish offices, she elaborated a bit more on this next chapter for Ms. Beador.
"I just offered [via that text], I said, 'I know you're going to go do this. We've been doing this for a number of years.' I said, 'If you want any advice, feel free to call me.' But she didn't, which is fine," Heather, who has a beauty line she sells on Evine with her husband, Terry Dubrow, said.
She continued, "But I just wanted to say good luck. I think it's great, I think, if you could find a way to have a career. So many people after having kids, you have these kids and especially if you're a stay-at-home mom, it's a classic thing: You wake up and go, 'Oh my gosh, what happened?' You kind of lose yourself sometimes and I think that's why its so important to maintain hobbies and businesses and things to keep your brain sharp. And so when the kids are becoming at that independent age, you have something to do. But for a lot of us that doesn't happen, so she's, like, reinventing herself. I think it's very cool. I'm super proud of her and I hope her business does great."
Shannon recently launched another product in the line, and is contemplating other ways to expand on the brand. And Heather thinks that this business has fallen into place for the RHOC mom for a good reason.
"I think it depends [on if launching brands for different celebrities will be successful]," she said. "I think you have to be smart. I hate using the word 'brand[ing],' but you kind of have to stay in your lane. Like, I wouldn't sell a line of carburetors. Why would you buy a carburetor from me? It just wouldn't make sense. But I think if you stay in your lane — and I think Shannon is, because she's always been about food and cooking and that whole thing, so I think it's smart."
