Gizelle Bryant Calls Out "Messy" Karen Huger for Her High Tea Drama
"She got glee and drove home laughing because she thought me and Robyn were at odds," the #RHOP mom said.
Something incredible happened earlier this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. After an intense discussion with Charrisse Jackson Jordan about the so-called "firemangate" in the season premiere, Gizelle Bryant actually apologized to her longtime friend at the ladies' high tea.
Gizelle recently told The Daily Dish that she was more than ready to put all that drama with Charrisse to bed when she sat down with the ladies. "The tea went well. I was kind of at a place where I no longer wanted to deal with the firemangate, the fireman issues. So you know what? Let's just let it go," she said. "And I felt like, 'OK, I will be the bigger person and apologize.'"
The RHOP mom was being 100 percent real with her apology, too. "Yes, it was very genuine. I do feel strongly about the fact that Charrisse and I have known each other for six, seven years, and we've had a relationship that has been fine," Gizelle explained. "So I do want us to get to a better place. And it's better for the group if we can hash out these problems and move forward."
Gizelle said that going through a divorce herself after deciding to end her marriage to megachurch pastor Jamal Bryant has made her empathetic toward Charrisse as she deals with her own marital issues. "I feel like I understand her hurt, and I understand why sometimes she does the things that she does because it's not necessarily coming from a good place; it's coming from a place of hurt, and I get that," she said. "And that was probably one of the reasons why I apologized."
But of course, any goodwill that had transpired at the high tea seemed to come undone when Karen Huger called out Robyn Dixon for criticizing Gizelle's actions toward Charrisse behind her back. "Karen is very interesting, because she wants us all to come together and make peace, and then she brings out all this drama with Robyn and throws Robyn under the bus. So just as Charrisse and I have kumbayaed, here comes messy Karen with more drama," Gizelle shared. "But what Karen doesn't know is that Robyn and I are good enough friends that we see Karen coming before she even gets to us. And Robyn and I have talked a lot about the situation between me and Charrisse. And Robyn's entitled to her own opinion. I don't have a problem with that."
Gizelle went on to say that she doesn't believe Karen had good intentions in bringing up the subject at the high tea. "Do I ever understand what the grand dame does? No. But Karen is Karen, and she says that she brought it up because, 'It was going to inevitably come out later, so we need to just deal with it now, ladies,'" Gizelle said. "Yeah, I don't believe that. She got glee and drove home laughing because she thought me and Robyn were at odds."
Whether or not it was actually the plan, the moment didn't drive Gizelle and Robyn apart. In fact, Gizelle said she appreciated Robyn's honesty. "No, not at all. I wear big girl panties. I can fight my own battles, so I don't need Robyn to do that," she explained. "However, I understood it. I understood that she wanted to side with Charrisse and felt like she needed to and felt very strongly to discuss it with me and tell me I was wrong and needed to apologize. I get it. I like friends that are able to tell me how they feel."
Even amid her own issues with Charrisse, Gizelle said that she was "totally fine" with Robyn remaining friends with the both of them. "I don't feel like Robyn's not loyal to me," Gizelle said.
Karen has a bone to pick with another shady lady in the upcoming episode of RHOP on Sunday at 9/8c. Check out a sneak peek, below.
