Even Erika Girardi Confuses Herself with Her Erika Jayne Alter Ego
Sometimes, it's hard for the #RHOBH singer to sort out this pretty mess.
We're getting to know two new 'Wives this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Erika Girardi and Kathryn Edwards. But with Erika's alter ego Erika Jayne, it's almost like having a third newbie on the show.
Erika has been adamant about keeping her glamorous home life as wife to high-powered lawyer Tom Girardi and her over-the-top onstage persona Erika Jayne separate. But Erika is human, and sometimes she even gets the two confused, as she did during a recent interview with NYLON.
Erika got her personas crossed when she was asked what kind of hair Erika Girardi and Erika Jayne would wear, respectively. "Erika Jayne likes her hair straight without a lot of product with a really good natural blow-dry, wait-did I say Erika Girardi?" Erika said before correcting herself. "I'm sorry; Erika Girardi likes her hair straight with a lot of product, just a really good blow-dry. Erika Jayne likes her hair ropey with a lot of product, really rock star and wild."
But when you've had an alter ego for as long as Erika has, it's natural to not even notice that you're switching between the two. She went on to explain that she created Erika Jayne when she began recording music and released her first album Rollercoaster in 2007. "As human begins, we all have layers to ourselves, you know?" Erika said. "When I say there's a little bit of Erika Jayne in everybody, what I mean by that is: No one is one way all the time. No one is buttoned up all the time and no one is wild all the time. There are different parts to your personality, different layers—and that's really what Erika Jayne is, another layer to a human being."
In fact, Erika Jayne gives Erika Girardi strength and vice versa. "I think they empower each other," she told NYLON. "Being able to express yourself under the name Erika Jayne and saying things people want to say but wouldn't, or doing things that people want to do but don't, or taking that extra leap of faith or pushing the levels of sexuality, or whatever, that helps Erika Girardi stand on her own two feet and be calm and peaceful. There's nothing undone or unspoken, or nothing unsaid."
Luckily, we're going to see a lot more Erika Girardi and Erika Jayne in the future. Erika revealed that she just shot a music video for a new song called "How Many," which is actually short for "How Many F***s." "I'm in the studio now making new music, but I'll always continue to release great records, give great shows, and create fun videos," she said.
