Did Dorinda Medley Know About Luann de Lesseps' Fiancé's Past with the Other Ladies?
The #RHONY pal dishes all about the couple's buzzy courtship.
As Luann de Lesseps and Thomas D'Agostino move closer and closer to their wedding day, the conversation about his past relationships with some of the other ladies has yet to quiet down. And it's only bound to get louder as this season of The Real Housewives of New York City chugs along. Soon enough the crew will learn what exactly Bethenny Frankel knows about him based on some texts she received. And now Dorinda Medley is opening up about the drama, teasing that what we learn was pretty disappointing for her to hear.
"Well, as you'll see — and I can't really go into it — but as you'll see, I did not know about it for quite a while, and then I kind of found out about it in a very awkward time," she said. "Which I can't really go into but I was devastated for Luann. I'm devastated for them, not even just Luann. I know people are like, 'I always, I want to believe that things are good. I want to believe that life is good. Why not believe in the fairy tale?' I want to always believe in the positive."
It's the latest twist in a series of confessions to come out about Thomas, who had previously dated Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer. They were all reunited during last Wednesday's episode when the women gathered on a yacht. "They're very modern-day. I come from a very ethnic Italian, Polish background, which is when you stop dating someone you just don't like them anymore and they basically don't exist anymore. Cut them off," Dorinda said of the get-together. My whole theory is once you've seen someone's vagina or other parts, no more friends anymore. You've crossed over a line. I'm old school. I think it's very commendable that these women cannot only be in the same room but in a boat, which is quite small and celebrate the upcoming nuptials of their ex-lover, friend, date's girlfriend's new boyfriend thing, very commendable. I don't know if I could personally do it, but I guess that's what being grown-up is about."
While Thomas has tried to clarify his past with Sonja and Ramona, Dorinda thinks that clarification could have come even sooner. "No, I don't think it's jealousy. I believe, and I hope I'm not going to get in trouble for this, [it was] probably more up to Tom to be much clearer from the get-go," she said. "In life, it's good to be honest and clear because then people can make their decision... I think if he had gone from the get-go and said 'Listen, Luann, I want to be honest with you. We're starting to date and it's not comfortable, but I did have some dates with Ramona and I did have some little things with Sonja and I just want it to be out there. And how do you want to handle that?' Otherwise what you see is happening and people take a stance on it and there's a lot of backtalk."
And while Dorinda did know Tom before he started seeing Luann (she introduced them), she insists she had no idea about his relationships with Sonja and Ramona. "No, you'd think id introduce them if I knew all that was going on?" she said. "No, is the answer. I know I'm a bit of a village idiot sometimes, but no, I didn't know. I knew Tom from a long time ago when he was friends with one of the girls that's actually mentioned on the show. And I used to see him at the Meadow Club and see him randomly. It's not like I was hanging out with Tom. I just knew him for years, so when I saw he was out again and single... and they're very similar Tom and Luann."
The Tom drama will continue when RHONY airs Wednesday at 9/8c. Check out a preview, below.
