Did Angelina Jolie Diss Jennifer Aniston at the Golden Globes?

When Jennifer Aniston appeared onstage at the 2018 Golden Globes, all eyes were on the Friends icon. Well, all except two, perhaps. Seated at a table near the stage, Angelina Jolie appeared to look down and ignore Aniston as the latter presented an award. Awkward.  

In case you need a quick refresher — and you probably don't — Aniston and Jolie have a bit of a strange history. Aniston was formerly married to Brad Pitt, but the star couple broke up in 2005 after Pitt met Jolie on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. (We're sure there's a lot more to the story, but those are the Cliffs Notes.) 

Now single herself, Jolie appeared at the January 7 awards ceremony where Aniston was set to present. Many wondered whether Pitt's famous exes would finally interact on camera. And, while there was no such luck, a quickly circulating screen grab does seem to show off the next best thing. 

In the image, Jolie's tablemate Dakota Johnson seems to give the Then They Killed My Father director some discreet side-eye as Aniston addressed the crowd. Though it's hard to tell exactly where Johnson was looking, the shot does make it look like the star was trying to suss out Jolie's reaction. For her part, Jolie seemed to be dabbing her lips, with an "Oh, there's an awards show going on?" attitude. 

Disclaimer: the screen grab was snapped during one second in time, and it's likely that Jolie was watching Aniston at most points during her speech. (It's also possible that Johnson was scanning the crowd for a waiter — or Tom Hanks — just hoping to get a drink.)

And, hold onto hope: there's a whole awards season ahead of us, and perhaps the two ladies will finally interact for real some day soon.
