Kim Zolciak-Biermann Claps Back at Those Suggesting She Faked a Stroke
"I think it's sick that somebody would ever think that," the #DontBeTardy mom says.
Just weeks after suffering a mini-stroke, Kim Zolciak-Biermann appeared on Good Morning America to open up about the health scare that would later leave her disqualified to further compete on Dancing With The Stars. Now, the Don't Be Tardy mom calls the incident "a blessing in disguise." "The minor TIA revealed that I have a PFO, which is like a hole in your heart. I was born with it and it never closed," she said on Thursday (October 8). "That's what caused it basically because the blood clot was able to cross over through the hole whereas most people don't have that and it's not able to do that."
Since being hospitalized, some critics — including talk show host Wendy Williams — have implied that Kim faked the health scare. "I think it's sick that somebody would ever think that and some of the people that have said that, it just shows me their mentality," she explained. "I don't think that many people would really fake a stroke. Especially since I love Dancing with the Stars. It's been one of the best experiences of my life. It's been very difficult for me to not be on the show dancing."
Since being forced to exit the competition, Kim's fans have rallied, via a petition, to get her back on the dance floor. While the rules state "in the instance of illness or other health related matters affecting a participant's ability to participate in the game, they must withdraw," Kim still isn't sure why she hasn't been given another shot at the mirror ball trophy."I was able to dance, I just couldn't fly," she said. "I learned my dance on Saturday. I was discharged from the hospital on Friday. I learned it on Saturday. I feel like they could've done something via satellite. They've made exceptions in the past for people who couldn't dance in the actual show who got injured in a rehearsal. Or they could have used the tape that I did on Saturday of me dancing."
"I tried to kind of get an answer because I really do love the show," she continued. "I love everybody — the producers, the casting directors, all kind of fought for me, but when it came down to it it was the lawyers that made the decision."
But Kim assures fans she'll be back — she's currently slated to appear on the finale next month. "I'm not sure what they're going to have me doing," she said. "I don't care. I'm just so excited to be there."
