Luann On Her Royal Title: “People Think I Just Pulled It Out of the Crapper”
The #RHONY royal clears up how she received her title and why she kept it following her divorce.
Real Housewives of New York's Luann de Lesseps may not technically be married to royalty anymore, but it doesn’t mean that she isn’t deserving of her title. The Countess appeared on Ice T and Coco’s new daytime talk show Ice & Coco Wednesday (August 5) and clarified the authenticity of her fancy moniker. "People think I just pulled it out of the crapper, but it's a real title, one I'm very proud of,” she explained. "I'm no longer married, but the Count and I are very good friends and I have a courtesy title, which, you know, the Duchess of York didn't give up her title, Princess Diana didn't give up her title when they got divorced. It's called a courtesy title." The Countess was also quick to point out all that she has given her ex-husband (as well as her royal subjects). "I put in 17 years and two kids, I'm keeping the title,” she said. Fair enough.
The Cool Girl also dished on the inspiration for her most recent song (this summer’s smash hit, “Girl Code”) and her future plans in the music business. ”I’m not trying to be Britney Spears, God knows, but I have fun with it, I love it,” she said. “I love rock and roll, I love Broadway. I’ll break into ‘Big Spender’ at any dinner party. So I love to sing.” Um, if that’s the case, the invitation is open to any future dinner party we throw!
