Want to Coachella Like Tom Sandoval? Follow These Key Steps
The #PumpRules SURver has a few recommendations for how to hit the annual music festival like a boss.
With the first weekend of Coachella in the books, music lovers are gearing up for Weekend Two of the celebrity-loved music festival, which kicks off (again) on Friday, April 22. But while some folks — like Katy Perry or Kanye West — may have a been-there-done-that approach to attending the event, Tom Sandoval remains just as excited by the festival as he was when he first attended way back in 2010.
“I came here in 2010 with money and no ticket. Finagled tickets at the door. 2010 was like the first amazing year I experienced here. I’d never heard of Portishead. I’d never even heard of MIA,” Tom said in an interview with The Guardian done on the grounds of the festival, which he attended with Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, and Max Vanderpump-Todd.
The Vanderpump Rules SURver really enjoys Coachella because of the diverse line-up, which this year includes performances from the likes of Ice Cube (which he caught) as well as Diplo and Skrillex's group, Jack U (whose set he also rocked out to). “I can only handle so much electronic music. That’s why I love Coachella. You can see Ice Cube, then Axl Rose is, like, next. And he rocked out too,” Tom said.
By the way, Tom even has his sights set on someday rocking Coachella himself with his band Charles McMansion. He said, “I would love, one day, to play Coachella. F*** Wembley.”
And for any novices of the famed SoCal event, Tom shared his expert hacks on how to properly Coachella. Camping is a popular option for attendees, but it's not Tom's style. “We usually stay in a house. I would never camp here. Burning Man’s a different story. Yeah, houses are great," he said, adding that he also isn't prone to splurging for VIP passes. “The real VIP is on my shoulders,” Tom explained. Noted!
