When Carrie Underwood fell at her home and underwent surgery on her wrist back in November, she let her fans know about the incident. But now the singer is revealing that the accident was worse than she let on a few months ago.

"There is also another part of the story that I haven't been ready to talk about, since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up," she wrote in a New Year's Eve post for fans on her website (via CNN). "It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well."

She is sparing fans most of the "gruesome details," except that her facial injury required 40-50 stitches to repair.

The singer says she's "still healing and not quite looking the same."

Underwood has shied away from taking pictures since then for the most part, until she was snapped post-workout by Below Deck Season 1 chief stew Adrienne Gang on December 12.

According to Taste of Country, Gang later tweeted that she didn't know Underwood was injured.

"When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different," Underwood wrote in the December 31 post. "I'm hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don't know how it's all going to end up."
