Captain Lee Rosbach and His Wife Have Inspired Kate Chastain's Own Dating Life
Here's everything you've ever wanted to know about the Below Deck couple.
Seeing how adorable Captain Lee Rosbach and his wife Mary Anne were on Tuesday night's episode of Below Deck proves that this couple is #RelationshipGoals.
If it seemed like Captain Lee was ecstatic about reuniting with his wife aboard the Valor, he most definitely was. "I know that he does miss her. He keeps a little framed photo of her next to his bed on his nightstand [on the Valor]," Below Deck's chief stew Kate Chastain recently told The Daily Dish (clip above). "It's super cute."
Though we saw Captain Lee get a little mushy around Mary Anne, Kate said that he's still pretty much the Below Deck boss we know and love when he's with his love. "Captain Lee doesn't change at all when he's around his wife," Kate explained. "At first I was like, 'I mean, you could be a little more romantic.' But I actually think it's kind of sweet because it truly shows that she's his best friend. They're just friends, they're buddies, and they're cute."
Outside of the weeks that Captain Lee is away on charter, Kate said that the couple is inseparable on land. "Chef Ben [Robinson] pointed this out to me a couple of years ago, and I didn't really get it or agree at the time, but I do now. He's like, 'They're like the same person, Captain Lee and his wife.' I think they've been together so long, and they're such, kind of like when you notice people start looking like their dogs," Kate joked. "But Captain Lee and his wife have kind of been together so long that they are kind of like one. It's sweet."
Their frequent time apart may have also helped Captain Lee and Mary Anne stay married for 42 years and counting, which is something Below Deck's fearless leader has said has contributed to the longevity of his relationship in the past. "I would be curious to ask Mary Anne how she feels when Captain Lee goes away because Captain Lee is working, he's got all these crew members to manage. It's probably harder for Mary Anne because it's just normal life without him. Like, she could get a cardboard cutout of Captain Lee or something," Kate said. "But also, I think it might be one of the reasons they have such a great marriage because I think that a little time away always makes people appreciate each other more."
This even has Kate thinking that maybe she should start looking for potential dates who have to travel a lot for work. "I think that's ideal. What other jobs involve traveling?" Kate said. "That's the kind of industry I should start looking in the dating pool."
