Captain Lee Rosbach Responds to Kate Chastain's Disappointment over Their Discussion

Kate Chastain has been Captain Lee Rosbach's righthand chief stew since Season 2 of Below Deck. With the exception of some tension over a questionable blanket fold in Kate's inaugural season, she and Captain Lee have gotten along swimmingly on and off the boat.

However, Kate's relationship with Captain Lee seemed like it was put to the test after he questioned the chief stew about the moments leading up to Caroline Bedol's exit from the charter season. Kate even expressed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last week that she was "disappointed" with Captain Lee after their conversation.

Captain Lee responded to Kate's comments on WWHL Tuesday night and explained that he had to deal with the information he was given by Caroline at the time. "I can understand Kate's frustration at my comments and questioning her," he said. "I think it was necessary at that point. But looking back on it, 20/20 being hindsight, there was no contest there."

Captain Lee also shared in the Below Deck After Show that he regrets having that meeting with Kate (clip above). "Looking back on it, would I have handled it differently? Yeah. I wouldn't have confronted Kate," he said. "I wasn't there, I couldn't verify anything that was said, I wasn't privy to see anything. To me, I made a mistake."

Kate previously revealed during a recent interview with The Daily Dish that the moment temporarily strained her relationship with Captain Lee. "Finally, we had a talk and I explained this to him. He apologized and he's sorry," she shared. "They always say like sometimes fights can make your relationship stronger, and you always kind of think that's just what you say to make it feel better, but it really did! It really did."
