Candiace Dillard Bassett is taking a "break" from The Real Housewives of Potomac after six seasons as a 'wife.
The singer, who joined the cast back in Season 3, confirmed her departure from the series in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE the day after the Season 8 finale aired.

Is Candiace Dillard Basset leaving The Real Housewives of Potomac?
After revealing her departure from RHOP, the "Drive Back" singer opened up about why she decided to take a "break" the show.
"As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey," she said in her statement to PEOPLE. "With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP."
Why is Candiace Dillard Bassett exiting RHOP?
As Candiace herself said, she is taking time to focus on other projects and opportunities. On RHOP Season 8, Candiace has balanced her busy tour schedule along with her acting ventures, and her desire to have a baby with her husband, Chris Bassett.
Though Candiace is leaving RHOP, she noted in her statement that "this is not a farewell, but a 'see you later.'"
At the conclusion of her statement, Candiace thanked her fans.
“Your unwavering support has been my guiding light, and I look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead — and more importantly, sharing them all with you!” she added.
The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8 reunion begins on Sunday, March 31 at 8/7c on Bravo. Stream episodes the next day on Peacock.
