Caitlyn Jenner Shares the Last Time She Spoke to Kim Kardashian

Ever since Caitlyn Jenner released her memoir The Secrets of My Life in April, things have been strained between the former Olympic athlete and the Kardashian clan. In the book, Caitlyn makes certain claims about Kris Jenner — including that the momager knew about Caitlyn's "gender issues," and ignored them — and, the book has caused Kris a great deal of public pain. The book also paints Kris' ex husband, Robert Kardashian, in a way that his children find unflattering. So, how are extended family relations these days? In a phrase: not so great. 

Caitlyn recently spoke to students at Cambridge Union in England, and fielded questions about her famous ex-wife and stepchildren. "It’s been a little bit tough over the last couple of years on the Kardashian side," the author said. "To be honest I don’t talk to them anymore. Kim I haven’t talked to in a year. They don’t want me in their lives; they bashed me pretty badly. It’s devastating when your kids do that. It really hurt." 

Even though things are chilly between Jenner and the Kardashians at the moment, the I Am Cait star has hopes for the future. "I don’t know what the future holds. We will see," she said. She added that she's still close with daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, saying, "My life revolves around my children.”

As for her portrayal of Kris Jenner in the divisive book, Caitlyn is standing her ground. "I tried to be honest in my book. Very fair and very nice," she said. "Unfortunately, they didn’t take it that way ... [The book] was not about the Kardashians. They were only mentioned on 20 pages. They made it more about them on television. The book was about my life."
