Bruno Mars Finally Explains Why He Can't Stop Wearing Hats
The singer reveals the reason for his go-to accessory during a Carpool Karaoke ride with James Corden.
There's no question that Bruno Mars oozes swag and charisma. And now we're learning a little bit more about how he went from Peter Gene Hernandez to his more well-known moniker during the latest (and perhaps funkiest) edition of Carpool Karaoke. The "24K Magic" singer rode shotgun with James Corden at the wheel, during which he revealed a few of his trade secrets.
For instance, these are the only items he needs in his tour rider. "What do I want in my dressing room? Some booze and water, wet wipes. That's it."
He also shared why he's frequently spotted wearing a myriad of funky hats. "You know where the hats come from? [It's] because of this hair; I don't know what to do with it."
And in his life before he was the Bruno we know today, he lived a bit of a colorful existence. He went a child performer ("Four years old I was impersonating Elvis Presley in my dad's rock and roll 1950s revue in Waikiki") to an amateur card shark ("For a little while, yeah, [I used to play cards to pay my rent when I first moved to L.A.]"). But now he's just a cool dude who writes songs about being just so and wooing the ladies. By the way, one of his pro tips when it comes to the art of seduction is all in how you perform. "Let the shoulders do the talking."
So, where does he see himself in the future? Well, when James asked if he ever sees himself gaining weight like Elvis did later on in his career, he quipped, "If that doesn't happen then I didn't make it.
