Brad Pitt Almost Paid $120K to Hang Out with Emilia Clarke
The money would have supported an important cause — and that cause wasn't Pitt's Game of Thrones addiction.
Two of Brad Pitt's exes — that'd be Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie — attended the 2018 Golden Globes on January 7. But, if there was one woman in the star-studded room that the actor would pay money to hang out with, it was Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke. And in fact, Pitt did nearly pony up hundreds of thousands of dollars for that exact privilege at a gala held just prior to the ceremony, on January 6.
The Sean Penn J/P HRO Gala: A Gala Dinner to Benefit J/P Haitian Relief Organization took place at Milk Studios in Los Angeles and drew an illustrious crowd that could rival any awards ceremony's. Among the high-profile guests was Pitt himself, who threw up his paddle with abandon during a rousing live auction.
Prizes included the chance to watch an episode of Game of Thrones with Clarke and Pitt jumped at the chance. "During the first auction, Brad was on his phone. When the auction announced Emilia Clarke, they called her out in the crowd and Brad literally turned his whole neck to find and look at her and enthusiastically clap," an onlooker told Us Weekly.
With his interest fully piqued, the actor tried to beat out his GOT-loving competition at the gala, bidding $120,000 for the opportunity to hang with the Mother of Dragons herself. That is some serious commitment to Daenerys Targaryen right there! And it also shows a serious commitment to the evening's important cause.
Alas, the date between Clarke and Pitt isn't on the books for anytime soon. As onlookers like Leonardo DiCaprio watched the live-auction drama, another gala guest cinched the coveted prize for $160,000. But, Pitt didn't walk away empty-handed: he bid $40,000 on a Hoop Dreams experience and won!
