Bethenny Frankel Isn't "Going to Make the Same Mistake" with Her New Boyfriend
Here's why you won't hear the #RHONY mogul gush about her new man.
Bethenny Frankel has been very open about her new relationship, recently revealing that she's dating a married man who is separated from his wife and that she went to high school with his ex.
However, you won't hear The Real Housewives of New York City entrepreneur reveal much more than that about her new boyfriend. "I am in a really happy place right now. I haven't been this happy in a really long time, and I'm continuing with my policy of not involving [others] in my relationships, because it certainly has served me wrong in the past," she explained during a recent interview with PEOPLE.
Bethenny confirmed that she is seeing New York banker Dennis Shields, whom a mutual friend introduced her to about 27 years ago. "We have a lot of friends in common, and we've been friends for years," she said. "We were in the same circle. We've both been married and separated, and I was friends with the woman he later married in high school and I've spoken to her about three times in [the] last 25 years."
Bethenny was seen out and about with her new man Dennis in New York on June 14, 2016.
Though Bethenny's RHONY castmate Luann de Lesseps recently called the entrepreneur a "hypocrite" for "dating married men" in an interview with E! News, the Skinnygirl mogul, who is still in the process of divorcing her ex-husband Jason Hoppy, told PEOPLE that she is "making a joke" out of the situation and "owning it." "He's legally married and separated, which is exactly what I am so we're a perfect match," she said.
Even though things seem to be going swimmingly for Bethenny and her new beau, she plans on keeping her relationship largely out of the public eye. "You know the definition of insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting different results, so I'm not going to make the same mistake twice," Bethenny said. "So, if I'm happy in a relationship, I want to keep it private for as long as I can. It has not worked out with me well in the past to be gushing over being really happy – I'll leave that part to my cast mates."
And Bethenny's castmates certainly aren't shy about sharing details about their romances with RHONY viewers.
